A visit to the city water processing facility

Timeout4Africa Education and Sports Foundation continues to introduce our STEM girls to STEM experiences.  In October 2023, Mawo School STEM Girls group went on an excursion to Chanchaga water works in Minna, Nigeria sponsored by U.S. at Timeout4Africa foundation.
The water work facility is located on Paiko road, next to the chanchaga river. This facility is where the water provided to households in Minna is processed and pumped.
While in the facility, the STEM Girls where show around the complex by Mr Musa who is one of the faculty managers, Mr Musa was so excited to give the students a tour because he explained to the Mawo staff that he had daughters and wish they had the opportunity to experience the facility. Stops during the tour included the water testing room where water sample are tested for water quality, the ground water storage and also the reservoir. The girls said they will never forget the experince at the facility, learning all about the importance of the water purifying process.

The entire process was very educational for the girls which further ignited the girls' love for STEM. Precious, one of the STEM girls on the trip stated, "It was an interesting and educative experience for me and other STEM girls. We saw for the first time ever, how water we consume daily undergoes various purification processes to make it safe for drinking and keep us healthy."
At the end of the excursion, the girls took group photographs with staff of the facility expressing thanks for having them and gain such experience. The girls subsequently had lunch and returned to school.
